Randomness and Order

Is life is orderly or is individual thought and action driving the world? I will take up the point that it is orderly and lay down a couple of discussion points for you to talk about in the comments if you so choose. I’d also like to say that this really cannot be proven or disproven so it’s in that gray area where you may formulate your own opinion and defend it at will.

Your own will is not your own will but a collection of most likely millions of past experiences and inputs. Life is a game of percentages, and you live off these percentages. For example you choose to drive in the dark even that you know it’s a tad more risky to do so but you trust yourself, you choose to walk down the street for exercise even though it’s a slight risk you might get hit. But let’s think about why you walk down the street, there are many reasons why you might do so, I’ll explore one reasons, for exercise. Alright exercise, do you think you’d know that exercise is healthy for you if you grew up with no outside stimulus other than your own 7 senses? Probably not, sooner or later of course you might come to realize that if you do nothing but eat you grow fat and slow. So now let’s apply this, so you probably heard from our parents or a TV show that exercising is good for you, and you take this memory and put it into action and from what you learn you should exercise and walk down that street to stay healthy. Now was this really you’re action, no it wasn’t it was based off what others said. If you lived under a rock you would not exercise at all willingly. You would never leave that couch if it was convenient for you until you came to your own conclusion that you have become fat and slow and exercise will help remedy that. Therefore it is not your own free will but it comes from what you have seen and know and have collected through your senses. This can have much larger implications if you believe that everyone runs off this way. People act off logic and past experiences, so if the stove is hot you will not touch, if you know how to tie a knot you will tie one if you so desire to, and you desire to because your past experiences tell you this is the best knot to tie.

If you could map the brain and every minute detail I believe it would be possible to predict what the person was going to do at all times of the day. While it would be almost impossible to get the outside stimulus right and that would throw off the results you could predict to a certain degree where he would go and if you got everything perfect you could predict his life, past and present. Now let’s say that a meteor hits the Earth and someone is injured, was he/she destined to get injured? There are laws that dictate how things interact and move around other objects so we can predict where the meteor will hit and in hundreds of years in advance if we know enough about it. So can this be applicable to humans; I think it could. While you are reading this you might say that can’t be right so you do something random let’s say raise your right hand or move your foot, although I’m sure this is more complicated then I can comprehend, but I can say (in my opinion) that you were destined to do that. My reasoning without going too far back would be you read this, didn’t agree, humans are naturally defiant subconsciously and consciously, so you would attempt to prove me wrong by doing something random therefore you were fated to do this based off of what I’ve said and your own “wiring”. If there are laws of nature dictating how things interact with each other why can’t that be applied to humans also? In the most basic of basic creatures we can already predict what they are most likely going to do, granted we can’t predict everything yet, so if this is true then it would almost certainly be true for larger more complicated subjects such as humans.

While I highly condone not living a life were you believe everything is preordained I do believe you should at least entertain the possibility that we could be living in a shell and not really have any free will as I know it.

Discussion Point- Is everything random or orderly and why?

Don’t like my opinion, or agree with it, or anything in-between or want me to share an opinion on another topic? Leave a comment below. Will be adding more discussion points and such when I have time.

Note*: This is fairly hard to describe, I'll try to find a better way to explain it.
